Leaffooters

Saw these bugs attacking some tomatoes in my garden, and was intrigued. They look kind of like weevils, but don't exhibit the traditional "snout" that those bugs have. I think they may be some other kind of beetle, and was told by my neighbor that these are leaffooter bugs, who like to eat tomatoes and potatoes preferably.
