Simple Character Creation Sheet

Description

I wanted to create a simple, yet efficient, character sheet that writers and roleplayers can use to help them build characters. I left some space between some of the character traits, to enable additional info to be written if this sheet is printed out. Also, here are some thoughts to the various criteria-

Traits 1-7: Basic information on the character, who they are, and what they look like.

8. Love Interest: Does the character have a lover? Or someone that they are interested in romantically? Are they married, or single? This can be a very important trait for a character to have, since who they are attracted to or not, can tell a lot about the character themselves. It can even be important enough to be a focal point of the story, where the character's goal is to win the affections of a certain character, or hijinks that ensue when they interact with each other.

9. Social Alignment: Is the character good, evil, or neutral? Do they have an elemental affinity, or high rank in a social caste?

Traits 10-11: Where the character came from, where they are now, and perhaps other information such as what planet, multiverse, reality, or even time period they are in.

12. Religion: What beliefs does this character have? Do they worship or revere anything? Are they part of a religious order, or do they have a personal philosophy? Or are they agnostic/atheist?

13. Personality Trait: What is their personality like? Are they care-free and easy going, or hot-headed and quick to anger? Are they flirtatious, or maybe rude? Are they intelligent, or as smart as a piece of toast? Do they have their sanity? These are all personality traits, among many more that you can use to base your character on.

Traits 14-15: Basic information on what they like and dislike, such as foods, activities, music, trends, animals, etc. This can be basically anything, such as their favorite color, or what they hate most about sky diving, but can really help to flesh out a character based on what they like and dislike.

16. Family: The characters family members go here. Who is a part of their family, and what sort of relationship they have, is very important for building a likeable character. Do these family members hate each other? Or are they members of different factions/beliefs despite being related? Is one of the members a long lost relative? Perhaps they are a traditional loving family? Family pets can also be listed here.

Traits 17-18: Basic info on who the character's friends and enemies are. A good rule of thumb can be to list WHY they are friends or enemies too, to help flesh out the relationships. How the characters met, and where the relationship will go, are also useful things to consider.

19. Occupation: More basic info. What does the character do for a living, or how do they earn money? Are they unemployed? Do they have a trade?

Traits 20-21: You can list the character's strengths and weaknesses here. What are they good at or weak at? Some ideas of strengths are special weapon training, super powers, unique skills, or talents such as music composition or maybe wood carving. Ideas for weaknesses can include phobias, diseases, or vulnerabilities. Perhaps they are clumsy, or prey to an element that is opposite of the one they possess.

22. Detailed Profile: This is the meat of the character. Their personal history, their accomplishments, and their failures. This is their backstory, what they went through in life, what made them what they are, and what their outlook on life is. Who are they, and what is their place in this story? What will happen to them in the story? Are they a main character, or perhaps hold a supportive role?

23. Additional Identifying Features: Basically stuff that won't fit anywhere else. Is this character known for anything in particular? Something that attributes to them and no one else? Such as a distinctive habit, or maybe a cool catchphrase? Are they always seen in a certain color of clothing, or perhaps they have a quirk that can be both helpful and hurtful to them? Maybe a favorite pose when they succeed at something? Or a running gag that centers around them?

That's most of the stuff I could think of to help in quickly building a character from scratch. I hope this sheet can help people to flesh out their characters, and be more creative. Also, remember to just have fun with it!
